Halloween can be traced back to its origins in ancient times, when the festival Samhain was celebrated, on October 31st through November 1st. It was a powerful turning point of the year, signifying the cycle of life, death and rebirth. It was believed that spiritual activity was at its height during this time, due to the rising of the Pleiades star system in the northern hemisphere. The Sun’s position in the mystical sign of Scorpio thinned the veil between the realms of the living and dead. Today we can honor Halloween as a celebration of Mother Nature, and the ever evolving energies that live around us and through us. Energy can never be destroyed. Instead it shifts from one form to another. We can appreciate the changes we’ve experienced throughout the year, release negative and lower energies, and welcome in the unknown. Halloween is a portal of heightened intuition, perception, and vivid dreams; strengthening our connection to the divine, with energies of healing and integration.
